Vue d'ensemble du projet

In September 2025, a major refining enterprise in Zhoushan, Zhejiang, is constructing a new petrochemical base with a total investment of billions of yuan and an annual production capacity of 40 million tons. As a key component of smart port development, the client aims to enhance container handling efficiency, reduce labor costs, and achieve fully automated, unmanned port management. Consequently, the client consulted Weihua regarding the feasibility of providing a comprehensive automated Automated Rail Mounted Gantry Crane (RMG) solution.

Project Implementation & Services

Weihua’s professional team provides end-to-end project implementation support:

Pre-project Phase: Our technical team conducts on-site assessments, measures yard dimensions and access routes, evaluates container handling loads and throughput, and develops customized solutions based on client requirements. Simulator demonstrations and 3D yard simulations validate design feasibility and optimize operational workflows.

Mid-Phase Execution: Equipment manufacturing proceeds according to the plan, with critical components produced and assembled under strict quality control systems. Factory commissioning includes lifting, lateral movement, positioning accuracy testing, and intelligent control system validation, ensuring high reliability standards upon delivery.

On-site Installation: Weihua’s engineering team oversees yard installation and track laying, completing RMG crane assembly, positioning calibration, and electrical wiring. Simultaneously, remote control systems are commissioned to enable multi-crane coordination and automated operations.

Operator Training & Handover: Port personnel receive systematic training covering remote monitoring operations, emergency procedures, and daily maintenance protocols to ensure independent equipment management.

Post-Delivery Support: 24/7 remote technical support and scheduled on-site inspections are provided. Combined with real-time equipment status monitoring via the intelligent surveillance system, this ensures rapid response to customer needs and sustained stable, efficient crane operation.

Project Outcomes & Customer Feedback

Through Weihua’s automated rail-mounted gantry crane (RMG) solution, this smart port has achieved round-the-clock unmanned operations. Container loading/unloading and yard transfer efficiency has increased by over 30% compared to traditional manual operations. The automated RMG seamlessly integrates with the port’s Terminal Operating System (TOS), enabling full data traceability throughout yard operations. Operators can monitor equipment status, task progress, and potential anomalies in real-time via the remote monitoring platform.

Client feedback highlights stable equipment operation and precise positioning. Automated operations have substantially reduced manual intervention and labor costs while minimizing operational risks. This project has established a benchmark for automated rail-mounted container cranes in smart ports, providing a mature, replicable solution for future smart port development and serving as a critical reference template for port automation upgrades.
