Modjo Dry Port is one of the most important inland logistics hubs in Ethiopia, connecting railway transportation with the country’s import and export activities. As part of the port expansion, WEIHUA delivered 2 rail-mounted gantry cranes (RMG) and 3 rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTG) for container yard operations. It was also the first time Ethiopia introduced a complete set of RMG and RTG container handling equipment.

WEIHUA Container Crane Solution
Before providing the equipment, WEIHUA’s team visited the project site and studied the working conditions, container flow, and operation requirements of Modjo Dry Port. Based on the actual application needs, WEIHUA supplied 2 rail-mounted gantry cranes (RMG) and 3 rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTG) to support railway container transfer and container yard operations.
Rail Mounted Gantry Crane (RMG)
WEIHUA supplied 2 RMG cranes for the railway container handling area of Modjo Dry Port. Moving along fixed rails, the cranes are mainly used for transferring containers between railway lines and storage areas. Their stable operation helps improve container handling efficiency and supports high-density stacking in the yard.
For this project, the RMG cranes were configured with:
