Visão Geral do Projeto
During the construction of a new high-speed rail line by the Xi’an Railway Bureau, the site required frequent lifting and transport of 100-meter-long continuous steel rails. Due to the excessive length of the components and their complex weight distribution, existing equipment could not meet the requirements for synchronized precision and safety, and lifting efficiency was also limited. The railway bureau therefore decided to introduce a specialized four-unit synchronized rail mounted gantry crane system.
- Equipment: Rail mounted gantry crane
- Capacidade de Elevação: 40 toneladas
- Localização: China
- Data: Fevereiro de 2023

After thoroughly understanding the construction conditions, rail transport processes, and synchronization control requirements, Weihua undertook the design and manufacturing of the entire system. The delivered quadruple-crane gantry system successfully addressed the industry challenges of “difficult synchronization, significant errors, and inadequate monitoring” in long-rail handling. It enabled stable, safe, and controllable lifting and positioning of rails, significantly boosting construction efficiency.
Requisitos do cliente
Xi’an Railway Bureau’s core requirements at the project’s inception were: achieving high-precision joint handling of 100-meter-long rails by four RMG cranes, featuring flexible operation modes, intelligent safety controls, low travel error, and operational data logging capabilities.
Solução
Addressing the complexity of long-rail handling, Weihua custom-designed an integrated “four-in-one” joint-lifting system:
- The control system employs Siemens S7-1500 PLC + Schneider ATV71 frequency converters for rapid response and precise control.
- PROFINET bus + wireless communication technology enables real-time data exchange among the four rail-mounted gantry cranes.
- Centralized control console + remote controller facilitate unified dispatch, with the option to switch to cab-based independent operation.
- Fault interlocking ensures automatic shutdown of all units upon any equipment malfunction.
- The built-in database system records real-time equipment operating status, load information, overload counts, and more.

Communication Process
From requirements research to solution finalization, Weihua’s technical team conducted multiple on-site visits to thoroughly understand RMG crane operation workflows, site constraints, and operational rhythms.
During technical validation, both parties refined synchronous control algorithms and soft-connection solutions through multiple rounds of reviews and simulation testing.
Following equipment manufacturing, Weihua engineers participated in on-site installation and commissioning, conducting multiple full-load and synchronized double-hoist tests to ensure safe and reliable project implementation.
